Court Jester

COURT JESTER ©

A mini story by Martha Cecilia Rivera.

The court jester of the kingdom invented a contest of sculptures and phrases for a prize. He made a nameless king of clay, with crown, scepter and throne, and a figure of King Mo’s rival. Then, he placed each one on opposite sides of the road and brought announcers to read some phrases. The contestants had to hear the phrases and assign them to the nameless clay king, or to King Mo’s rival. The winner assigned “tyranny” and “end of daily life” to the rival to the throne, and “right to speak” and “opportunities” to the nameless king. It was a fun afternoon, although many people thought that it was a game only.
